Frequently Asked Questions

What are alternative therapies?
Alternative therapies, also known as integrative therapies, are increasingly being integrated into everyday healthcare. This includes a variety of therapies not traditionally taught in med school or covered by insurance. Some of these practices include mind body medicine such as yoga; energy therapies such as reiki, whole systems such as Ayurvedic medicine; touch based therapies such as massages and bodywork; and botanical medicine including herbs and supplements. In my practice, we explore yoga, meditation, positive and emotional intelligence, reiki, and emotional freedom tapping.

How is this different from therapy?
With coaching, we will focus on your present situation and circumstances and ways to make your future reflect your true desires. In therapy, it is often more focused on cognitions and thoughts derived from past traumas and experiences.
Both are great resources to help you adapt to new situations and learn life skills. I strongly recommend seeking therapy to help process serious or recent traumatic events, as well as if you are in a crisis or have suicidal ideation.

What kinds of clients do you work with?
I prioritize my work with Black women and LGBTQ , however my services are open to everyone. What’s more important is that you are ready to take a step further to discover how healthy you can really get, are open to learning, and are willing to expand what you know to be true for you.

WHY DID YOU START COACHING?
I have been studying health and life coaching as a trade since may 2020. At the start of the pandemic I wanted to take control of my health for myself as well as my family. I also wanted to honor my desire to be in the healthcare field and make a direct impact on people's lives in a way that was inclusive of all of the daily life stressors, not just medical or mental disparities. I graduated from Howard University with my degree in Psychology and from my time there, I realized early on that the traditional way of therapy and mental health counseling was not conducive for everyone, let alone my people.
As the world takes on new and increasingly varying forms of trauma there needs to be an increase of new and current research on various treatments as well. As you may have experienced, therapy is not a one size fits all model. I wanted to take an approach different from therapy. Instead of forcing someone to talk about and relive their trauma, we examine what current challenges are going on in all areas of your life now, how you can make every day feel like you’re living your best life and take action towards your goals where you may be feeling stuck. My approach is holistic so I work with people in the 7 pillars of health.

How do I balance this with what I am already doing?
I offer a variety of sessions to meet my clients needs. Yoga classes are a low commitment way to drop in and join the community.
1 on 1 coaching sessions are the highest time investment. We will be meeting at the same time once a week for 1 hour each week. This is a 12 week program.
21 day cleanse. This is a 1 month program. We will meet for a 1.5 hour session, once every two weeks and communicate via email and text in between.
I also offer consultation and accountability calls that you can book a la carte.

Will I recover the investment I put into this coaching program?
How long have you been trying to do what you say you want to do? What is it worth having reached your goals, and improved mental clarity? How much is it worth to you to reclaim and take control of your health? To adopt healthy lifestyle habits that will last a lifetime? What you invest in yourself via time and money will return to you tenfold in the wealth of health.
